    On Thursday, the head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Haider Hanoun, reviewed the Commission’s efforts in combating corruption during a forum held by the European Union mission in Iraq on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, noting “the referral of files inflated by more than a quarter of a trillion dinars. ”
    A statement by the Commission, seen by Al-Eqtisad News, said: “During his speech at a forum held by the European Union mission in Iraq on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, Hanoun reviewed the efforts of the Integrity Commission in combating corruption, both at the level of completing the legal system that combats corruption and presenting drafts and projects.” Laws amending the Authority’s Law No. (30 of 2011), the recovery of proceeds of corruption, the right to obtain information, and other draft laws, noting the great achievements made by the Authority at the injunctive investigative level and the unprecedented increase in the pace of red-handed arrests, which led to the imprisonment of officials. And special degrees behind the bars of justice, and the return of some of the proceeds of corruption from the corrupt .”
    According to the statement, Hanoun reviewed “the Authority’s efforts over the course of a year in the preventive, educational and awareness-raising aspect, and the large campaign it launched to follow up on the debts of senior officials and the inflation occurring in them, stressing that opening this file resulted in very great achievements, as the amount of funds reached which represents inflation in light of Technical reports of the Prevention Department, and its files were referred to the judiciary amounting to more than (266) billion dinars, while it worked on the educational and awareness side by organizing awareness programs and holding seminars and workshops with various activities, including the public and private sectors, and working with the Ministries of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research to incorporate the values Integrity in educational curricula and the issuance of valuable work guides, while the draft academic system for the professional higher diploma for specializations related to anti-corruption was approved in cooperation between the Commission represented by the Iraqi Anti-Corruption Academy and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. ” 
    According to the statement: “The Chairman of the Commission appreciated the role of the judiciary and the current government in providing support to the Commission in carrying out its noble tasks to eradicate the scourge of corruption from the body of state institutions, stressing that the Commission worked to recover the accused and the funds, whether inside or outside Iraq, and invested in the government’s successes at the international level; To conclude cooperation agreements, some of which bore fruit and resulted in the recovery of some of those convicted of corruption cases, praising the great efforts made by international and regional organizations to cooperate with Iraq in confronting the scourge of corruption, especially the United Nations Development Program and the European Union mission that funded the project (Supporting Justice Initiatives to Combat Corruption and Promoting a Settlement Trade disputes), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ).
