    Baghdad today - Kirkuk
Member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Idris Haj Adel, confirmed today, Wednesday (December 13, 2023), that the Federal Court’s decision to reject the lawsuit to postpone the Kirkuk elections is a fair and courageous decision.
Haj Adel said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “provincial council elections must be held in Kirkuk because no elections have been held in the city since 2005.”
He added, "This decision is fair, because Kirkuk, like the rest of the provinces, must have a local authority and a new administration drawn up by the democratic process, and the representation of the components must be fair."
He pointed out that "the Kurdish component has made up its mind, and everyone knows our weight in Kirkuk and our lists, and we will achieve the majority that will enable us to form the local government."
Yesterday, Tuesday, the Federal Supreme Court issued a decision that there was no obstacle to holding the Kirkuk Provincial Council elections on the scheduled date, coinciding with the other provinces.
