The Minister of Communications, Hiyam Al-Yasiri, announced today, Wednesday, the most important achievements of the ministry in the field of combating corruption, while confirming the achievement of important results during the first year of work in the ministry.
Al-Yasiri said during a press conference, “On the occasion of Anti-Corruption Day and Integrity Week, we must all be aware of the importance of combating corruption, since the scourge of corruption is dangerous, eats away at the state’s capabilities, and hinders its progress.”
She added, "Iraq has suffered from corruption over the past years, and this scourge is no less dangerous than terrorism," indicating that "anti-corruption operations are difficult and complex, and the more anti-corruption efforts increase, the more corrupt people find ways, methods, and other devious mechanisms to invest and exploit state resources." In violation of the law.”
She pointed out, “Our procedures during the first year since we took office were difficult and arduous, because one of our most important priorities was combating corruption, and then comes establishing projects and establishing their sound components,” warning that “building and establishing projects with the presence of the scourge of corruption will produce results.” "Unwanted."
She added, "Our work in the field of combating corruption began by evaluating departments, as any treatments must start from the top of the pyramid, and this is a large and important part. It is not possible to hold the base of junior employees accountable for corruption or bribery at a time when its highest direct official is corrupt." She continued, "We also worked to put the right person in the right place, in addition to adopting the method (reward and punishment), and canceling contracts directly between the official and the company, so that the contracting would be through specialized committees," stressing, "achieving good and important results during the first year of our work in the ministry." .
Al-Yasiri believes that “the responsible employee must be assigned tasks within his competence, so that he is aware of what is happening within his responsibility,” stressing “the importance of providing opportunities for young people, graduates, and those holding advanced degrees.”
Al-Yasiri affirmed her support for every honest and loyal employee who does his job, and he must contact me directly if he is exposed to any harm or harm from any party outside or within the ministry.
