The Electricity and Energy Committee in the House of Representatives revealed the agreement with reputable companies to activate electronic collection, while noting that advanced stages have been reached in the Iraqi-Jordanian interconnection project.
Committee member Ahmed Rashid Al-Salmani said in a statement followed by Mawazine News that the strategic plan that was discussed with the Minister of Electricity and the advanced staff is to activate the issue of electronic collection, noting that equipping areas with continuous electricity for 24 hours will motivate the citizen to pay for the electricity he consumed and the possibility of rationalization after A short period of time.
Al-Salmani added that the ministry chose reputable companies that have experience in the field of electronic collection under the conditions of the Iraqi side, away from the companies that worked in this field years ago and have more than one question mark, in addition to replicating the experiences of countries in this field, including the Egyptian experience that succeeded in providing continuous electricity. to its citizens after activating this procedure.
Al-Salmani explained that the government and the ministry took into consideration those with limited income whose consumption does not exceed 15 amps by providing the service at subsidized prices, pointing out that all official departments will have their electricity consumption based on solar energy.
He stated that the 10,000 megawatts that citizens consume will be transferred to increase processing hours, stressing that he is awaiting the approval of the Prime Minister to implement electronic collection experimentally in a number of Baghdad regions and governorates, and then circulate it after a period of time to all regions.
Al-Salmani pointed out that citizens can pay using a mobile device or electronic cards, away from the employees who receive amounts from citizens in their hands, which sometimes exceed the amount written on the card issued by the ministry’s departments, adding that private generators cost the state budget billions of dinars, and it could have been built. There are many electrical stations with the amounts given to them, in addition to the presence of many suspicions regarding the work of their owners, such as selling the kerosene that is distributed to them, so that their profits are imaginary compared to what they provide
to the citizens.
On a related level, he revealed that advanced stages have been achieved in the Iraqi-Jordanian link project, and it is hoped that the Jordanian Prime Minister will approve the start of operating the line that will reach Baghdad after a while, to benefit from it not only by strengthening the electrical network, but also by stabilizing the electrical current in all the areas it passes through and reducing From the sharp decline that occurs in the winter and summer seasons due to excessive loads or terrorist attacks on the towers.
