Today, Thursday (March 14, 2024), the Parliamentary Integrity Committee confirmed that it worked in cooperation with the Integrity Commission on many corruption files and stopped many of them, while indicating that this is being done “discreetly” so as not to affect the conduct of investigations.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Karim Shakur, told “Baghdad Today” that, “Over the past period, members of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee have revealed many violations and suspicions in various institutions, but most of these files are not revealed to public opinion, due to the ongoing investigations into them, and revealing them may affect On the progress of investigations, and that is why not everything is published in the media and talked about.”
Shakur stated, “The Integrity Committee, with all its members, is in almost daily contact with the Integrity Commission, the judicial authorities, and other competent regulatory authorities, to uncover cases of corruption, and these parliamentary moves stopped many suspicions, and were even able to recover a lot of wasted and stolen money, and despite all the pressure on us, we worked.” "Continuing to fight corruption and the corrupt."
The Federal Integrity Commission announced in its annual report for the year 2023 that the number of defendants has reached more than 14 thousand defendants, including (55) ministers and those of their rank, and (350) defendants with special ranks and general managers and those of their rank.
