    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Today, Tuesday (March 26, 2024), member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Hadi Al-Salami, revealed that more than 300 reports had been submitted about “suspicions of corruption,” noting that they included 20 entities, including ministries and bodies.
Al-Salami said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “fighting corruption is no less important than fighting ISIS and extremist ideas in Iraq,” pointing out that “the Iraqi treasury has lost trillions through corruption mafias and the plundering of public money over the years through projects and deals.” "Corrupt."
He pointed out, "He provided more than 300 official reports to the integrity and public prosecution departments from September 2022 until now, including 103 reports during 2023 that included more than 20 entities, including bodies and ministries."
He explained that "the cases are subject to investigation, and some of them are pending before the courts, awaiting the judges' just decision," noting that "integrity and the public prosecution are in a state of activity and positive interaction with all the news and cases that we raise through the investigation and revealing the evidence and evidence that documents suspicious corruption deals."
He stressed that "land manipulation and gender conversion are among the major issues whose threads we seek to uncover, whether in Najaf Al-Ashraf Governorate or other governorates."
On (March 23, 2024), the Parliamentary Integrity Committee confirmed the existence of political protection for some corruption operations in various aspects of the Iraqi state, while it sent a message to Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani .
Committee member Bassem Khashan told “Baghdad Today” that “there is political protection for some corruption operations and the corrupt, and this is beyond doubt. That is why we find him penetrating all state institutions .  ”
Khashan stated, “The Sudanese must uncover all corruption files and hold all the corrupt accountable, away from any political pressure, and he can do that,” noting that “we do not believe that he has reached the point of inability to fight corruption, as there is still a great opportunity for him to succeed in this file, which is one of the "The most prominent challenges facing his government."
