Previewing Steelers match-up against the Cowboys

    Dallas Cowboys @ Pittsburgh Steelers
    Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
    Sunday, November 13, 2016, 4:25 p.m. (ET)
    Key Matchup
Steelers defense vs. Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott. The rookie sensation Elliott leads the NFL with 891 rushing yards and is averaging five yards per carry and 111.4 yards per game. Pittsburgh’s defense has  slipped to 13th in the NFL against the run after finishing fourth a year ago and was gouged to the tune of 204 yards by Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi in Week 5 and 127 yards by the Patriots LeGarrette Blount in Week 6. However, it is fair to point out that star defensive end Cameron Heyward missed both of those games with a hamstring injury. Upon Heyward’s return a week ago, Pittsburgh held the Ravens to just 50 yards rushing. Obviously, statistics that are closer to the latter than the former on Sunday could go a long way in helping the Steelers achieve victory.

    The Steelers Win If…
Ben Roethlisberger hasn’t been himself since tearing the meniscus in his left knee on October 16. However, before the injury, he was leading the NFL in touchdown passes with 15. The Cowboys have a respectable defense that’s ranked 10th overall and sixth against the run. Dallas is a little vulnerable in the passing game, ranking 15th and allowing 246 yards per game. Not horrible numbers, but it’s certainly an avenue Todd Haley should try and exploit.
As for the defense, against a Cowboys offense that’s averaging just under 28 points per game, it’s not going to be a day in the park, for sure. Not only is Dallas’ offense good, it takes care of the football (just six on the year) and its league-best offensive line protects rookie quarterback Dak Prescott (11 sacks on the year). Obviously, stopping Elliott is going to be key, but finding a way to come up with a takeaway could be even more crucial.
    The Steelers Lose If…
The Steelers inability to get after the quarterback this year as well as take the football away could manifest itself in the worst possible way this week against the Cowboys offense. Failure to get to Prescott could mean a failure to break a three-game losing streak.
    Fantasy Tip
Roethlisberger is due for a big game and he normally comes through in these high-profile, nationally televised match-ups.
