It's a mystery! A very strange place for a major quake to occur! A mag 6.5 - 131km W of Moijabana, Botswana is the first major Quake of April

A shallow mag 6.5 - 131km W of Moijabana, Botswana is the first major Quake of April and the 19th of 2017.
A strange place for a major quake to occur I don’t ever remember reporting a major quake anywhere near here before, there is also no region summary or history available for this location on USGS which would suggest the area has no history of major quakes, or minor quakes for that matter.
Solar wind is flowing from a minor coronal hole and reached reach Earth on today adding its contribution to an already enhanced solar wind environment around Earth

    Well…Something new

Our Star wakes up and delivers six M-class solar flares in the first three days of April: Still almost 2 years since she fired off an X-class flare

A M5.7-class flares and M5.3-class flare and M4.4-class flare have shown our Sun is alive and kicking.
After the quietest period for seven years she bounces back with six M- class flares since Friday.
We have to go all the way back to 23rd of July 2016 to the last time we had a higher reading than the M5.7-class flare when the Sun registered a M7.6-class flare.
We have to go all the way back to the 5th of May 2015 to the last time the sun unleashed an X-class flare
The latest blast is shown here in a picture from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory

NOAA forecasters estimate a 60% chance of M-class solar flares and a 20% chance of X-flares on April 3rd as sunspot AR2644 continues to crackle with magnetic explosions

Guatemala's Fuego volcano erupts Sunday spewing columns of ash 16,000 feet high

The Fuego volcano, located over 30 miles west of Guatemala City, erupts frequently.
Guatemala's Fuego volcano calmed down in the early hours of Sunday morning after more than half a day of activity, leaving behind remnants of lava flows.
"The third eruption (this year) of the Fuego volcano has finished after 16 hours," the country's national institute that monitors volcanic, seismic and meteorological data known as Insivumeh reported Sunday morning.
Columns of volcanic ash shooting out of Fuego, which translates to "fire," reached over 16,000 feet, falling nearly 50 miles away from the peak in the areas of Atitlan Lake, Chicacao, Mazatenango, Retalhuleu, El Palmar and other locations, officials reported.
The volcano is located over 30 miles west of Guatemala City, and the ashes from the eruption fell on areas further west.
Insivumeh reported that volcanic activity had normalized by Sunday morning, but called on disaster and emergency response officials to take necessary precautions in light of the risk of further debris and volcanic matter flowing down from the Fuego volcano.
