    Shafaq News / Environment Directorate of Diyala revealed on Saturday, that it has examined 24 thousand vehicles that have entered the country through Mundhiriyah port border, stressing that no radioactive contaminants have entered through the incoming goods into the country .

    “We have a detachment with radiation devices in Mundhiriyah port border with Iran, where 24,000 vehicles have been examined which entered Diyala province during the past periods carrying food, fruit, vegetables , construction and electrical materials,” The director of the Environment Department of Diyala , Abdullah Al-Shammari told “Shafaq News”.

    Shammari said that his department has set up a mobile radiation detection in Mundhiriyah port last year for radiological scans by a special technical detachment to ensure preventing the entry of any contaminated by radioactive materials that pose a danger to public health and cause cancerous diseases.

    The Environment Department of Diyala province announced in 2011, setting up monument a special device to detect radioactive contamination in Mundhiriyah port between Iraq and Iran (150 km) north of Baquba, which is the first of its kind in the province.

    Semi-official Statistics confirm that the volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Iran via Mundhiriyah port exceed 12 billion $ annually.
