    Baghdad Today - Diyala
The leader of the Coordination Framework, Ali Al-Fatlawi, confirmed today, Thursday (July 4, 2024), that the Diyala knot is almost resolved, awaiting the Sunnis’ position, indicating that the coming days will witness the “birth” of its local government.
Al-Fatlawi said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "The Coordination Framework attaches special importance to the issue of ending the Diyala political complex in light of the existence of a Shiite-Shiite problem, a Sunni-Sunni problem, and a Sunni-Kurdish problem in distributing roles through positions."
He added, "According to the latest reading, the Diyala knot has almost been resolved after the recent meetings between Badr representatives and the State of Law Coalition, and there is indeed a positive agreement in this direction, but the matter remains dependent on the Sunni forces to determine their candidates for positions, whether in the Diyala Council or its administration."
He pointed out that "positivity was present in yesterday's meeting, and a comprehensive position may be announced in the coming days, which will serve as a roadmap to end the Diyala complex and be the beginning of the birth of its local government."
Since the first session was held on 2/5/2024, the council decided to keep it open until now, and the political blocs held several meetings to reach a comprehensive agreement, but each time the crisis returns to its beginning and the council is divided into two teams: the first is the team of the former governor who wants to return to his position and is made up of 8 members in Badr, State of Law, Progress, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and a member from Sovereignty, in addition to the other team that stands against the renewal of Al-Tamimi and is made up of 7 members from Asaib and Al-Azm and two members from Sovereignty and the Iraqi Foundation Alliance.
After that, the Sunni blocs also announced their adherence to the position in their favor after the Shiite blocs failed to hold the decisive session, and nominated MP Raad Al-Dahlaki for the position, while the Al-Bishara Movement within the State of Law Coalition also nominated Abdul-Rasoul Jadaan Al-Otaibi for the position of governor as well.
