The Iranian President Mahmoud Hashemi Al-Shahroudi's current visit to Iraq was at the request of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to unify the Shiite parties after the escalating differences between them in order to enter a single list in the parliamentary elections scheduled for next year.
The website "Khobar Farsi" close to the militants sources said that "prominent clerics in the city of Karbala were able to arrange a meeting between Mahmoud Shahroudi with the highest Shiite cleric in Najaf Ali Sistani," adding that "Shahroudi will meet during his visit to Iraq, Prime Minister Haider Abadi, Ammar al-Hakim, the leader of the wisdom movement and Nuri al-Maliki, head of a coalition of state law is likely to meet the leader of the Sadrist movement Moqtada al-Sadr also.
The sources said that "the head of the Expediency Council of the Iranian regime (born in Najaf), a former head of the Iraqi Supreme Council, went to Iraq at the request of Ayatollah Khamenei to unite the Shiite class."
