Clay tablets from Iraq reveal thousands of years of medical secrets

The researchers believe that this discovery could provide a whole new look at how to deal with disease in ancient civilizations. A Danish doctoral student, Troels Pank Arbøll, of Copenhagen University, analyzed clay tablets by a man named Kaiser Ashur in the 7th century BC.
The plates are written in an ancient language invented by the Sumerians, called the cuneiform script, which tells the story of a doctor in training, records his work and methods of doing using this old script.
The tablets speak of a range of medical practices (believed to have been passed on by the Greeks later), as well as magical rituals.
Revealed clay tablets discovered in Iraq, in modern times, basic secrets about medicine for thousands of years. Clay tablets have been found for decades in the remains of the ancient city of Assyria in northern Iraq, but new research has revealed that it contains the writings of a trained doctor from the cradle of civilization. The panels, written in ancient cuneiform script, constitute a chronology of events that show the various hidden aspects of medical education 2,700 years ago.
