Moscow: NATO violates the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that NATO's statements on the nuclear file are in violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
"Any comments by NATO representatives on the nuclear issue generally represent a violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)," Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Mishkov said Tuesday, commenting on Moscow's accusation by NATO of increasing nuclear capabilities. The Convention does not consider military alliances alone nuclear powers. "
"Nuclear powers are specifically interested in conducting negotiations and contacts on the subject of reducing nuclear capabilities," he said.
The NATO deputy secretary-general, Rose Gottemoeller, has accused Russia of increasing its nuclear capabilities.
In addition, the German newspaper "Zedwitsche Zeitung" pointed out that NATO is considering the possibilities of "nuclear deterrence" in response to Moscow's alleged violation of the Convention on the destruction of medium and short-range missiles.
