     ( Reuters) -
Veteran US military agents sued a federal court on drug companies suspected of providing support to armed groups in Iraq .

The suit is filed by five companies, American General Motors, Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer, as well as the European drug manufacturers Ostra Zenica and Roche Holding AG.

"These companies have provided free quantities of medicine to the Iraqi government," said the plaintiffs. "These gifts have become a source of funding for terrorist groups and attack US soldiers," the New York Times reported .

The companies have sold millions of dollars in medicines and medical equipment to the health system in Iraq and are likely to have paid bribes to Iraqi officials for taking advantage of such lucrative deals, the lawsuit said.

The suit was filed under a law that allows Americans who have been injured by overseas attacks to sue bodies or companies that have played a role in supporting terrorism.[/size]
