[rtl]CAIRO (Reuters) - California's fire toll has risen to 40, but firefighters have indicated progress in stamping out the flames and the authorities have allowed thousands of evacuees to return home gradually.[/rtl]
[rtl]The latest toll has killed 38 people.[/rtl]
[rtl]The fires destroyed more than 88,000 hectares, particularly the famous vineyards of Napa and Sonoma in northern San Francisco.[/rtl]
[rtl]California's Forestry and Fire Protection Commission said there had been "good progress" in eliminating the 15 blazing fires after 16 fires.[/rtl]
[rtl]Some 11,000 firefighters from various states have been mobilized to help extinguish the fire.[/rtl]
[rtl]It also referred to the lifting of the order of compulsory evacuation of the inhabitants of Kalistoga. Some residents of Coventry Park in Santa Rosa have also begun to gradually return to their homes. "[/rtl]
