Belgium declares its final position on its citizens involved in "calling" in Syria and Iraq

    Alsumaria News / Baghdad
The Minister of the Interior, Jean Jean Sadoun, that the issue of the return of citizens of foreign fighters who went to fight in Syria and Iraq with "Daash" is not on the agenda, stressing the refusal to dialogue with these people.

"They have chosen a different path, and they know that what they have done has consequences," he said.

The Belgian minister did not rule out sending a commission of inquiry to Iraq to interrogate his compatriots from ex-combatants detained by Iraqi authorities. "As for women and children who are our citizens and want to return, their cases must be examined individually," he said.

The comments come in response to the demand of Tariq Gideon, a former Belgian fighter in the ranks of "Daash", to return to the country and cooperation with the Belgian authorities, which was rejected by the latter firmly.

Many European countries face the problem of their citizens who have been involved in the fighting and want to return home.
