Washington declares its position on Iraq's relationship with Iran
It confirmed that the US State Department, that the top priority of the United States in the region is the elimination of al Daesh, noting that Iraq has the right to have relations with its neighbors.
The deputy spokesman for the State Department, Nathaniel Tech in a televised statement, "The United States appreciates the heavy sacrifices made by the Iraqi people in their fight against terrorism, and the war against Daesh commends the efforts of Haider al-Abadi and his steps bold and courageous for national reconciliation and the elimination of Daesh."
He tack, "The top priority of the United States in the region is the elimination of Daesh, and the government of al-Abadi play a very important role in this end."
And described the relationship with Washington, Baghdad and the relationship of Tehran in Baghdad, he stressed, saying that "his country enjoys a good relationship and close cooperation with Baghdad," adding that "thanks to the military and the Iraqi government's efforts, the organization Daesh about 60% of the territory that was controlled."
He continued that "America will continue to support and provide assistance and advice to the Iraqi government in its war against Daesh."
On the relationship between Tehran and Baghdad, he said Tech "Iran is playing a very negative role and is destabilizing the region and can not cooperate with Iran in this file."
He added, that "Iraq is a sovereign state and has the right to have a relationship with their neighbors and do not have any comments to make about its relationship with Iran."
