Abadi pledges to Nujaifi 4 guarantees before the elections

     Baghdad / Range

Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi pledged during his meeting with Vice-President Osama Najafi, the commitment to provide four guarantees before the elections in May, the most important of these guarantees the return of the displaced and not allow the armed factions to participate in the elections. Last week, the prime minister announced the holding of parliamentary and local elections together in May 2018. Political forces and entities announced their disconnection with their armed factions a few days ago in preparation for the next election after requiring them to abandon their armed arms. "The two sides discussed a number of political issues, including the elections and the return of the displaced," Vice President Osama al-Nujaifi said in a statement obtained by al-Mada.
The Nujaifi office added that "the meeting discussed and discussed a set of files, where Nujaifi presented the commitments of the government contained in its declaration on the holding of elections including the return of displaced persons and provide a safe environment and electronic voting and non-participation of armed factions in the elections and the control of the state on weapons." During the meeting, The issue of the reconstruction of Mosul and the great damage suffered by the city, stressing the "need to attend the field of ministers in Mosul and oversee the work and push forward, taking advantage of the potential of ministries in that." The statement quoted the prime minister as "committed to the four points raised by the vice president during the meeting, which are holding elections including the return of displaced persons, providing a safe environment, electronic voting, non-participation of armed factions in elections and state control over arms.
The Prime Minister also discussed with the Vice President of the Republic "the crisis of the Kurdistan region and the importance of urgent dialogue to dismantle problems within the framework of the Constitution." The meeting "discussed several issues on the regional and international situation in the framework of common understanding and serious dialogue to ensure the interests of Iraq as well as to discuss the needs of citizens and local issues." In a separate context, the Prime Minister considered that victory will be achieved in what he called the "battle of corruption", despite all the difficulties and challenges expected.
This came during a speech at the University of Technology on the occasion of the graduation of its 42nd session.
The Prime Minister has launched, late last month, a campaign to eliminate corruption and the recovery of stolen Iraqi funds. He predicted that the battle would be more difficult than the confrontations that the security forces have waged against an organized organization over the past three years. "The cleansing of Iraq is a success for all Iraqis," Abbadi said. "Our fight against corruption is continuing and we will win it despite the challenges and difficulties." "We must honor the families of the martyrs and the wounded, the students who participated in the liberation operations and the care of their families as well. We salute all those sacrificed for Iraq," he said.
"We must encourage investment and increase the sources of income and not rely on oil," he said, calling for "the launch of investments in agricultural, industrial and commercial."
