Breaking News … FRC recommends to suspend dealing with RWIC within EU Parliament

    Thursday, 24 October 2013 11:21

Baghdad (AIN) –The Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee instructed the Iraqi committees and officials to suspend dealing with the "Relations With Iraq Committee" within the European Parliament due to inviting the Iraqi sentenced to death in absentia Vice-President Tariq al-Hashimi, to Brussels to participate in the Human Rights Conference.

A statement by the FRC received by AIN cited "During its regular meeting, the Committee discussed the consequences of this invitation and the big mistake that the RWIC has made, recommending the authorities in Kurdistan Region not to receive the head of the RWIC and the accompanying delegation who are supposed to visit KR."

"The Committee has discussed some details related to a close meeting with the countries of the European Union in Baghdad," the statement concluded.

Earlier, a statement by Hashimi's office confirmed that “Hashimi arrived in Brussels according to an invitation from the European Union.”

The statement added “Hashimi will attend a session for the EU Parliament dedicated to listen to Hashimi’s speech over the challenges that face Iraq.” /End/
