The Turkish ambassador to Iraq Fatih Yildiz said on Wednesday that his country will participate in the conference of donors for Iraq, to be held next month in Kuwait, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Planning.
This came during a meeting between Yildiz and Iraqi Planning Minister Salman Jumaili in the latter's office in Baghdad.
Yildiz said that his country will participate in the Kuwait conference of donor countries and will announce the amount of support it will provide to Iraq, whether grant or soft loan or investment contributions.
Jumaili stressed the importance of the Turkish role in the success of the donor conference as well as its role in the reconstruction process.
He pointed out that the trade and economic relations between the two countries began to recover after being affected by the circumstances experienced by Iraq during the past three years, represented by the existence of the organization "Da'ash" terrorist, which reflected negatively on the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.
Jumaili called on Turkish companies to contribute to the reconstruction process and access to large investment opportunities.
The statement also said that the two sides discussed enhancing bilateral relations in the fields of specifications and standards, customs cooperation, gold trade and the rehabilitation of the border ports between the two countries.
On Thursday, Jumaili leaves Baghdad for Ankara on a two-day official visit to discuss with the Turkish side a range of common issues.
Iraq plans to launch 157 investment projects at the donor conference, which is scheduled to take place in about 70 countries and will be held from February 12 to 14.
The Iraqi government announced last May that it needed about $ 100 billion to rebuild the liberated areas of the Da'ash control in the north and west of the country.
The infrastructure of the Iraqi ministries in the provinces under the control of "Da'ash" suffered large losses, including power projects and government facilities, estimated at billions of dollars.
