[rtl]China has suspended a request from the United States that a UN Security Council committee include 33 ships, 27 shipping companies and Taiwanese men in blacklist for violating international sanctions against North Korea, diplomats said .[/rtl]

[rtl]According to diplomats, the US made the request a week ago in a move that says it "aims to stop North Korean maritime smuggling activities to obtain oil and to sell coal ."[/rtl]

[rtl]This coincides with America's imposition of the largest package of unilateral sanctions on North Korea on Friday, strengthening pressure on Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear and missile programs, "and China gave no reason to stop US demand .[/rtl]

[rtl]Waqf can be lifted and is often used when a member of the Security Council wants more information but sometimes it can lead to a permanent halt to the process of listing people or companies on a black list .[/rtl]

[rtl]The UN Security Council's sanctions committee is unanimous in its decisions .[/rtl]

[rtl]If agreed, the committee will impose a ban on entry into the ports on the thirty-three ships proposed by the United States, including 19 North Korean ships .[/rtl]

[rtl]States will also have to cancel the registration of vessels other than North Korea .[/rtl]

[rtl]A freeze on the assets of the 27 proposed companies and the Taiwanese will also be imposed .[/rtl]
