The head of the Supreme Judicial Council Judge Faik Zidane discussed in his office Tuesday with the Italian ambassador in Baghdad Bruno Antonio Pasquino the promotion of mutual cooperation and the exchange of legal expertise between the two countries.
"The meeting also dealt with the prosecution of foreign terrorists in Iraqi courts according to legal and international standards," the Supreme Judicial Council's spokesman, Judge Abdul Sattar Birqdar, said in a statement received by AFP.
He noted that the Italian ambassador "praised the role of the Iraqi judiciary in the fight against terrorism"
