    The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Saturday, a meeting attended by the Ministry of Agriculture and the World Bank, to discuss ways to invest in the agricultural sector and resolve its obstacles .
    The meeting witnessed the participation of the private sector, represented by businessmen and owners of companies and financial institutions concerned with working in the agricultural sector .
    "The meeting discussed the problems facing the agricultural sector in Iraq, especially with regard to support and funding, " a statement issued by the organization, received by "Economy News", said its representative in Iraq, Fadel al-Zoubi .
    The statement called for "the need to implement various agricultural projects such as dairy and dates, as well as livestock projects, which will strengthen and strengthen the local economy ."
    Al-Zu'bi explained that "the meeting came out with recommendations that will be submitted to the concerned authorities in the Iraqi government." He pointed out that "the most prominent is the establishment of a systematic policy of import and export operations and laws related to these operations ."
    He added that "among the recommendations, emphasis on attention to research centers for animal production and stop the genetic deterioration in livestock, as well as interest in the market and the production cycle and interest in opening roads and markets for export .
    He added that the meeting stressed "the need to access international banks in order to obtain facilities and services of global banking, taking into account the interest in linking agricultural institutions with international institutions for the purpose of exchanging experiences ."
    In turn, the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Hamid Adwan, that "the ministry is seeking to find appropriate solutions to the challenges faced by the private sector by devoting the recommendations made by the meeting and applied on the ground."
