For the fourth day in a row, hundreds of traders blocked the shops of Tehran's Bazaar in protest against the low local currency price, rising prices and a halt in buying and selling, which turned into anti-regime demonstrations.

This is what allies of Hassan Rowhani, the moderate Iranian president, say is an attempt by hardliners to oust him from office. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called on those who are trying to sabotage the country's economic security. This came in the wake of unrest in Tehran as a result of the recent collapse of the local currency. For his part, said Foreign Minister Mohammed Jawad Zarif that the deadline for the European Union to announce its position on the nuclear agreement expires next week. Iranian security was not far from the protesters, the protesters attacked on Tuesday, near the gold market in Tehran, where rubber bullets were fired.

"We are forced to close our shops," the British Financial Times quoted Iranian traders as saying, adding that "there is a plan to make Rouhani a victim of the current economic crisis."
