China looks forward to strengthening trade ties with Eastern Europe

Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang is to offer the leaders of Central and Eastern European countries on Saturday to boost trade ties during a summit in Sofia, as he seeks to reassure the European Union that Beijing is not trying to divide the continent.
"Lee's participation in the 16 plus one meeting coincides with the escalation of the trade war between Washington and Beijing, while trying to dispel growing doubts among some participants about the value of these annual meetings," the Reuters news agency reported.
"China has promised billions of dollars for development projects in the region as part of its strategy known as the belt and the way to open new export markets," she said.
