Kuwait to send four desalination plants to Iraq
Kuwait will send four water desalination plants to Iraq with a total capacity of one million imperial gallons (4.5 liters per day), Kuwait's Energy, Electricity and Water Minister Bakheet al-Rashidi said Thursday.
Al-Rashidi expected in a press statement to reach an agreement on importing gas from Iraq before the end of this year.
On the OPEC oil production, he stressed that "the next meeting of the joint committee between OPEC and independent producers in Algeria, scheduled to be held on 22 and 23 September next will review the levels of oil production after the agreement to increase production in Vienna."
Asked about the possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Al-Rashidi said the Gulf countries had ready plans for emergency implementation and expressed strong optimism that crude production from the neutral zone would return to Saudi Arabia very soon.
Kuwait sent 17 mobile generators and 18,000 tons of diesel to Iraq to overcome its electricity problem.
