Newspaper reveals the details of an American who participated in the Iraq war and was arrested on charges of espionage in Russia

after the Russian authorities arrested a US citizen on charges of spying for the United States in Moscow .
The Washington Post reported details of a US citizen accused of spying for the United States in Moscow.
According to the newspaper, "American citizen Paul Whelan was a component of the US military was dismissed from military service because of theft in the army."
Former military officer Whelan has been visiting Russia regularly since 2007, where Whelan has a thorough knowledge of the country and speaks Russian well and without problems.
"He joined the US military in 1994 and fought major wars in Iraq between 2004 and 2006 and was dismissed from the military in 2008 after being convicted of theft," the newspaper said.
