    Iraq and the World Bank signed an agreement on Sunday to develop the electricity sector in the southern provinces. 
    "The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Finance Fuad Hussein signed with the World Bank Representative in Iraq Yara Salem today a project agreement aimed at developing and strengthening the system," said the Information Office, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Finance. Electricity in the southern provinces, "noting that" this comes in application of the government program to strengthen the relationship between Iraq and the international community and benefit from the expertise of international organizations. " 
    "The project will contribute to the increase in electricity supply and regularity, in addition to the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the network of transmission lines and distribution and the installation of new lines and substations and information systems that enhance the ability of the network to deliver electricity to citizens."
    The project will serve 2.5 million citizens in the governorates of Basra, Muthanna, Dhi Qar and Maysan.
