The Iraqi private sector has been hit by the Internet shutdown imposed by the government to try to curb unrest, a source at the Central Bank of Iraq said.
The source said in an interview quoted by "The Independent Arab," that "private banks in Iraq recorded losses of about 16 million dollars a day since the first interruption of the Internet in early October (October) last."
He added that "the combined losses of private banks, mobile phone companies, money transfer services, tourism and airline reservation offices exceed an average of $ 40 million per day, which is equivalent to about $ 1.5 billion in just over a month."
