(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The High Commissioner for Human Rights in Iraq and the oil and displaced ministries have called for providing heating requirements for the displaced in the camps.
A member of the Commission for Human Rights in Iraq, Fadhel al-Gharawi, said in a statement that he received {Al Furat News} a copy of it, “The displaced people in the camps are living in a humanitarian catastrophe and there is a danger that threatens their lives due to sharply reduced temperatures and rain and the lack of heating requirements in the tents they live in.”
Al-Gharawi added that "most of the displaced children and the elderly were exposed to many diseases due to the cold waves, especially in the camps that are between the mountains or on the outskirts of the desert."
He continued, "All the camps suffer from a shortage of food, health and heating materials, the camps have been provided, and most international and national aid has stopped, and the inability of many of the displaced to return to their homes has increased their human suffering."
