Clashes erupted between the demonstrators and the security forces today, Thursday, in central Baghdad, wounding ten protesters, wounding and suffocation.
A medical source working in a mobile medical detachment in Al-Tahrir Square said that "seven protesters were wounded by air-guns, while three others suffered severe asphyxia due to tear gas."
He added, "The wounded and the injured fall in Al-Khilani Square, near Tahrir Square."
Witnesses from the demonstrators said that clashes erupted between the demonstrators and the security forces in Al-Khilani Square, during which the security forces used air rifles and gas canisters against the demonstrators.
They added that the protesters, in turn, threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the security forces, noting that the square had witnessed cases of hit-and-run and intermittent confrontations for weeks.
For its part, the Baghdad Operations Command said, in a statement, that two members of the security forces were wounded by a hand grenade (Molotov cocktail), without indicating who dropped it.
