head of the Iraqi coalition, Ammar Al-Hakim, stressed on Saturday that boycotting the elections is a retreat from national duty.
In his speech during the fourth annual conference of civil society organizations, Al-Hakim said, "Civil society organizations have important and articulate roles in the process of building the unified Iraqi nation, consolidating the unifying national identity and promoting the principle of citizenship in our country."
He added, "With you and your active organizations, society is built, the nation is united, the state is strengthened, and generations are brought up on the national identity within the principle of rights and duties." ".
He called on all organizations to "work during the next phase, to urge the Iraqi public to broad, effective and informed participation in the elections," stressing that "elections are a fundamental right of every citizen as it is a national duty that is achieved by participating in building the country and working on its stability."
He stressed, "Boycotting the elections or not paying attention to them is not only a waiver of a basic right for the citizen, but rather a retreat from a patriotic and emotional duty that contributes to sparing the country from dangers and woes."
Al-Hakim called on civil society organizations to "analyze and disassemble all the proposed programs and curricula and sort the good from them from others," noting that "the process of sorting curricula and programs has become very necessary to help people make a good choice in the coming period and the next scene."
He continued, "Today, we are in need of sober approaches to building the state, establishing principles of dialogue and moderation in political and social life, and calling for adherence to the law, sound frameworks, and peaceful coexistence."
Al-Hakim held civil society organizations "the responsibility for removing confusion and generalization, and the responsibility for dismantling and developing projects and curricula, and for setting this up before the citizens." Ended 29 / A43
