    On Thursday (June 24, 2021), Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi warned that boycotting the elections would "serve the parties with power."
    Al-Halbousi said during an interview with the French Radio Monte Carlo, on the sidelines of his current visit to France, and followed by  IQ News , that "the Iraqi government submitted to France a draft strategic framework on the nature of the cultural and investment relationship, and it is now under study by the French side."
    In response to a question about whether the parliamentary elections will take place on their scheduled date, October 10, the parliament speaker said that "the elections are an important detail in the present and future of Iraq, and the new electoral law adopts the individual winner system," noting that "the Iraqi government seeks to control the pace of the process." elections, although there are some problems.
    He warned against calls to boycott the elections "because they will serve the parties experienced in power," pointing out that "it is not possible to hold free and fair elections in the presence of uncontrolled weapons and the dominance of political money."
    The Speaker of Parliament suggested that "the Iraqi and international public opinion will be informed of the results of the investigations into the assassinations and kidnappings of Iraqi activists before the elections scheduled for the tenth of next October."
    Regarding regional conflicts and their impact on the internal Iraqi arena, Muhammad al-Halbousi said that "there are regional problems and accounts that are settled in the Iraqi lands and airspace," expressing his rejection of "all forms of interference in Iraqi affairs and that Iraqi lands be used to target neighboring countries."
    He stressed, "We do not allow Iraqi territory to be used to create bases to fight opponents from any country neighboring Iraq, and we need international efforts to solve these problems."
    The Speaker of Parliament is visiting France at an official invitation, at the head of an Iraqi parliamentary delegation. Yesterday, he attended a session of the French National Assembly, amid the welcome of its members.
    Yesterday, Wednesday (June 23, 2021), Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi stressed the importance of supporting Iraq in security and economy, calling for the opening of a headquarters for the French Development Agency in Baghdad.
