On Sunday, the National Iranian Oil Company announced its intention to sign three agreements with local companies to study the huge Azadegan oil field that it shares with Iraq, according to a statement published by Bloomberg Agency.
The statement indicated, "The initial agreements to be signed tomorrow, Monday, if they lead to end contracts, they will increase the oil production capacity in the giant Azadegan field," without specifying any numbers.
The US agency pointed out that “Fars Oil and Gas Development Company” will study the northern part of the field, while “Petrobas” and “Petro Iran” companies will study the central part of the field, while the companies “Pasargad” and “Dana Energy” will study together the part. Southern from Azadegan.
And Azadegan, divided into two halves, north and south, is the largest oil field that Iran shares with a neighboring country (Iraq), and is believed to contain 32 billion barrels of oil.
