    Mustafa Al-Kazemi
     July 03, 2021 07:40 PM

direct: Mustafa Al-Kazemi said that Iraq needs two to three years to start producing gas, and to fill the largest percentage of the stations’ needs.
This came during an emergency meeting held by "Al-Kazemi", today, Saturday, with the governors, in the presence of the Electricity Processing Crisis Cell, against the background of power outages in many regions of the country yesterday, according to a statement by the Prime Minister's Media Office.
Regarding those interruptions, "Al-Kazemi" asked during the social media: "Who is targeting the energy transmission networks today? And why is he targeting them? Are we facing sabotage operations of a political or terrorist nature? We will answer all of this when the investigation is completed."
Al-Kazemi stated that this government is paying the price for wrong and prosthetic policies and waste of money for 17 years in all fields, especially energy, wondering why the electrical connection decisions were not taken with neighboring countries and countries of the world for 17 years?
The Prime Minister continued: "We found that the country is only linked to a network with the Islamic Republic of Iran, which did not fall short according to its ability, as it also has entitlements to its people, and there is the file of electricity debts and US sanctions decisions, and we are serious about solving this issue to deliver all the money owed by Iraq to neighboring Iran as a result of importing Gas and electricity for previous years.
Al-Kazemi pointed out that decisions have been issued - a year ago and until today - to connect Iraq's electrical system with all neighboring countries, commenting that it will take time and patience to complete the electrical interconnection systems with neighbors.
Al-Kazemi stressed that Iraq was very late in producing gas, so there was a need to start producing gas directly, and this needs two to three years.

And the Prime Minister’s completion: “Every step to solve the electricity problem in Iraq requires years, because Iraq did not actually start any step during the previous years.
Al-Kazemi noted his discussion with the French months ago about an Iraqi project to produce nuclear energy. Iraq has the right to possess nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and for energy production, and he sensed understanding among the countries of the world and the French, he said.
