The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Adel Al-Rikabi, stated that the retirement and social security law is in the voting stage, stressing that the completion of this step will stop the killing of the government job.
Al-Rikabi said during a televised interview followed by NRT Arabia, Friday (July 30, 2021), that "the retirement and social security law is in the voting stage, as it is a strategic law that concerns a wide segment of society."
He added, "There is a parliamentary interaction with the draft guarantee law, especially since the law will make work in the private sector similar to working in the government sector, with regard to the issue of guarantees and privileges, and will preserve the rights of workers in this sector."
Al-Rikabi explained, "The law will also guarantee a retirement salary that is close to the retirement of the employee in the public sector, and constitutes a guarantee for the fate of workers, which will lead to stopping the independence of the government job," stressing that "there are no fundamental objections to the text of the law, but the fluctuation of parliament sessions caused a delay in resolving this." matter."
He pointed out that "the Ministry of Labor is concerned with implementing the insurance law through follow-up, and there are mechanisms and provisions governing and penal sanctions in the event that institutions do not implement the provisions of the law," noting that "there are about 600 guaranteed workers in the ministry as a result of follow-up efforts."
Regarding the beneficiaries, Al-Rikabi stressed, “The government did justice to the ministry and allocated huge funds to it in a manner that suits the current situation, but this did not happen because the Finance Committee transferred large funds from the ministry’s budget to other doors unjustly and not of more importance.”
He continued, "There are efforts being made with the Finance Committee and the concerned authorities to deal with the matter or return part of the money that was transferred," attributing the transfer step to "political, technical and financial goals."
