    Iraqis welcome the new year with the hope that what happened during the past two years will not be repeated, as those whom Al-Sabah spoke to believe that their rights to a secure and prosperous Iraq are not wishes. In the face of the challenges of the high cost of living and the unstable economic conditions, there is still a lot for the citizen to “dream” about.
    There are also those who expressed pessimism and the lack of “a luxury of wishing” in their dictionaries, in light of social and political ambiguity and volatility that negatively affected the mood of public opinion and society in general, in addition to what was brought about by the Corona pandemic last year at all levels.
    Others say that extracting rights and obtaining them are not wishes. There is still the right to live in dignity in Iraq, and to obtain security and basic services that must be guaranteed by any country in the world, in addition to placing Iraq in its required position at the regional and international levels.
    Among those we spoke to, there were those who wished for a comprehensive change in terms of personal life and individual achievements that put the individual on the map of societal recognition during the next year, and we also spoke to astronomers who confirmed that it is “the year of confrontations between adults,” predicting the continued emergence of mutated viruses, in addition to An economic clash between Europe, the United States and China is near, while the latter will suffer an energy crisis.
    Forecasters of the events of 2022 say that Iraq will not witness a political agreement soon, with the approach of a breakthrough in the local economic crises in the first third of the year.
