Shafaq News/ An informed security source revealed, on Tuesday, the dismissal of the Director of Forensic Evidence from his position and the appointment of a replacement for him.
The source told Shafaq News Agency, "The assignment of Major General Iyad Abdel Hamza from the duties of the Director of Criminal Evidence has been terminated and transferred to the Administrative and Professional Inspection Department."
He referred to the assignment of Brigadier General Firas Thamer instead.
The source was not able to ascertain the reason for the dismissal of Abdul Hamza, but the decision came after his suspected involvement in the attempt to assassinate Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi last month.
Abdul Hamza and other security officials had been detained for several days and were investigated, against the background of accusing them of not dealing professionally with material evidence collected from Al-Kazemi's headquarters following the assassination attempt.
