    The National Security Service announced today, Monday, the overthrow of two people who traded in unregistered phone SIM cards, while revealing the outcome of two months of blackmail operations.

    The agency’s media stated in a statement received by Al-Sumaria News, “Based on accurate intelligence information and after obtaining the necessary judicial approvals, the National Security Service’s detachments in Basra Governorate were able to arrest two people who were trading in unregistered phone SIM cards. Our detachments were able to track down these two accused and overthrow them.” They were charged red-handed and (50) unregistered phone SIM cards were found in their possession, which are usually used for the purposes of threats, blackmail and defamation.”



    He continued, "Our agency also received many complaints on the toll-free hotline (131) and its official platforms on social media regarding blackmail cases, so that after examining and following them up, it was able to arrest (83) electronic blackmailers who bargained with their victims to obtain sums of money in exchange for not defaming them."
     
    The statement added, "The arrests were carried out according to judicial orders in the governorates of Nineveh (25 defendants), Holy Karbala and Anbar (10 defendants in each governorate), Salah al-Din (8) defendants, Muthanna (7) defendants, Kirkuk and Dhi Qar (5)." ) Two defendants in each governorate, Baghdad (4) defendants, Babylon and Wasit (3) defendants in each governorate, Basra two defendants, and Maysan one defendant,” indicating that “the defendants will be referred to the competent judicial authorities so that they receive their just punishment in accordance with the law.”
