Shafaq News/ On Saturday, 18 deputies in the Iraqi parliament demanded the parliament's presidency to question the Minister of Trade, Alaa Ahmed Hussein, due to suspicions of corruption in the distribution of ration card items.
Representative Salah Zainy Al-Tamimi told Shafaq News Agency, "The request came based on the provisions of Article 61 of the Iraqi Constitution," explaining that "an official request was submitted to Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, to set a date for questioning the Minister of Commerce, due to suspicions of corruption in the processing of the ration card items. Or the ration basket for which sums were allocated from the budget.
Al-Tamimi, a deputy from Diyala, attributed the reasons for the interrogation to "the disbursement of financial allocations to the ration basket contrary to the law, and without providing the citizen with the prescribed ration materials, which are the mainstay of life."
Most of the Iraqi provinces complain about the reluctance to distribute the new ration, "the ration basket", which includes foodstuffs of solid international origin, but some vocabulary is still absent, most notably rice.
