Al-Maliki to the Russian ambassador: We seek a coalition government, and the plans for foreign exclusion have been thwarted
Shafaq News/ The head of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, revealed on Thursday, the form of the government that he seeks to form with the Shiite coordination framework.
This came when he received the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, according to a statement from Al-Maliki's office received by Shafak News Agency.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the overall political and security developments on the regional and international arena, while the ongoing war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine and its repercussions on the international situation was discussed, the statement said.
According to the statement, al-Maliki indicated that Iraq seeks to overcome its current crisis through realistic understandings with other political forces in order to reach a state of understanding that contributes to forming a balanced coalition government that fulfills the hopes and aspirations of all Iraqis.
And he indicated that "the national forces were able to thwart all foreign schemes that aimed to confuse the political process by spreading exclusivity, exclusion and marginalization."
He called for the need to maintain dialogue, find a settlement to the crises, and work to reduce tension.
He added that Iraq stems from balanced relations that support the security and stability of the region and the world.
