Shafaq News / The independent deputy, Basem Khashan, called today, Saturday, for the Iraqi government and parliament to threaten NATO countries with "punitive measures" if it defends Turkey regarding the water crisis, considering any defense of the alliance for the Turkish measures makes it a partner to it.
In a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, Khashan said that "Turkey is a rogue state that violates Iraq's sovereignty and transgresses its water rights without a deterrent response from the Iraqi government, which clipped its nails by itself, kept silent about all this, did not follow the legal paths, and did not threaten Turkey with any action."
Khashan added that "Turkey, which is accustomed to the government's silence, will probably not be intimidated by an empty threat that is not very different from similar threats launched by the government and did not go beyond the borders of Baghdad."
Khashan added, "Therefore, it has become imperative for the House of Representatives and the government to send messages threatening punitive measures to all NATO countries that will contribute to Turkey's defense in the event of responding to similar attacks, because NATO countries are obligated to do so under the treaty of this alliance, and their commitment to defending Turkey is obligated to prevent it." from encroaching on the sovereignty and rights of other countries.
And Representative Khashan added, "If NATO countries choose to remain silent about Turkey's aggression and bypassing it, then it is a partner for it, and it bears all human losses and material damages that arose from its aggression against Iraq and those who exceeded its water share."
