The representative of the State of Law, Muhannad Al-Khazraji, confirmed today, Thursday, that the lack of investment opportunities and the absence of strategic projects are borne by the successive investment commissions’ administrations.
Al-Khazraji said in a statement, "The lack of investment opportunities and the absence of strategic investment projects are borne by the successive departments of the Baghdad Investment Commission due to mismanagement and widespread corruption."
He added, "Corruption is rooted in the joints of the commission, which granted investment licenses to suspicious and corrupt companies and others linked to foreign agendas to dominate the backbone of the Iraqi economy and stop the wheel of development."
Al-Khazraji vowed, "The corrupt in the Commission will be held accountable in the House of Representatives because of the granting of building approvals without the existence of real technical standards for safety standards, specifications and engineering approved in the construction of buildings granted to investors, and that the collapse of the Karrada building is a testament to the extent of rampant corruption in the Baghdad Investment Commission."
