Electricity: The results of our strategic plan to increase processing hours will appear within 3 years

Baghdad / Firas Adnan
The Ministry of Electricity stated that the results of the strategic plan to increase processing hours will appear within two to three years, stressing that the agreement with the German company Senmes provides 6 thousand megawatts, and while it indicated that the connection with the Gulf countries has reached very advanced stages, it stressed that the connection projects with Jordan reached 37%. "The government is taking serious and real steps to address the electricity file within time limits, which exhausted the Iraqis and involved real problems," said ministry spokesman Ahmed Musa.
Moussa continued, "Iraq resorted to signing a memorandum of understanding with a strategic ally, the German company Senems," noting that "the recent agreement differs from its predecessors in that it is accompanied by liquidity, financial abundance, and coverage to proceed with these memorandums."
He pointed out, "The electricity file has strategic partnerships with major international companies, and resorting to these companies achieves sobriety and continuity in supply."
Moussa said, "The agreement with the German company includes the addition of 6,000 megawatts through new generating stations, while conducting rehabilitation and maintenance of the existing units."
And he talked about "the presence of a large number of stations, networks, conveyor lines, and transformer stations that are manufactured by the German company Siemens, which will undertake maintenance and rehabilitation of most of these stations in order to reach its full design capacity."
Mousa stressed that "the memorandum of understanding touched at the same time on strengthening the transport sector and the establishment of transformer stations and transmission lines to drain the productive energies."
And he stated, “The addition that we are seeking, estimated at 6,000 megawatts, needs transformer stations and transmission lines in order to drain it,” explaining that “some of the stations suffer from problems represented by bottlenecks and increased demand for consumption, which will be addressed through the agreement.”
Moussa stated, "An important part that the memorandum of understanding focused on is the exploitation of associated and natural gas fields."
And he continues, “Iraq is currently suffering from a decline in the quantities of gas supplied, whether supplied from abroad or nationally, casting a shadow over the loads of stations and the decrease in production, and then the decline in supply.”
Moussa believes that “investing in associated gas and natural gas and exploiting it for the benefit of the Ministry of Electricity by operating the stations will give a good comfort for the stations to fully produce them, and this helps to increase processing hours.”
And he pointed out, “The electricity file receives great attention from the government and was placed among the priorities of the ministerial curriculum, with the ministry developing two plans, the first of which has begun, the first is emergency, targeting next summer and achieving stability by reaching 24,000 megawatts.”
Moussa noted, "The second plan, which is strategic, aims to reduce operating expenses, proceed with the establishment of combined cycles and solar energies, and complete electrical interconnection with neighboring countries."
And he went on, "These issues will be touched by the citizen successively with partial stability witnessed by the system, but the real strategic treatments will come successively within two to three years."
Moussa is counting on “financial liquidity and its abundance in order to proceed with many projects with partners in the field of electricity and energy.”
And he finds, “Diversifying energy sources and going to electrical interconnection with neighboring countries is a very effective matter with high rates, with government emphasis on that, as it prepares Iraq’s entry into the energy market.”
Musa continued, "The connection with Jordan is continuing by the General Electric Company, to establish (Risha-Qaim) lines and the Qaim substation, and the work rate has reached 37%."
And he added, "The connection with the Gulf has reached important stages, with the completion of the (FAW-Flos) line No. (1), the teachers' lines, and the Al-Faw conversion station."
Moussa concluded, "Iraq is discussing with the Gulf Linkage Authority the completion of the last line, which is considered the building block for the completion of the first phase, as it connects the Al-Faw station with the Al-Wafra station inside Kuwait."
For his part, a member of the Parliamentary Oil and Energy Committee, Dakhil Radi, said, “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani attached special importance to the issue of electricity.”
Radi added, "Al-Sudani gave special powers to the Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, in terms of contracting and spending money, especially in the production and transportation sector."
He pointed out, “A government endeavor that the coming summer season will be better than previous years in terms of processing hours.”
Radi pointed out that “most of the production plants are currently in the process of maintenance,” stressing that “the ministry is in the process of concluding new contracts; To establish new generation production stations and transmission lines.
And he talked about “a five-year plan at the ministry at the present time; In order to improve and develop the electrical plan in Iraq.
Radi believed that “achieving a balance between production, transportation and distribution is necessary; Because Iraq has areas that enjoy sufficient production, but suffer from a deficit in terms of transport lines.
Radi concluded, "Iraq has reached its production at the present time to more than 22 thousand megawatts, and is looking forward to creating a state of balance with the distribution sector, and with this balance we will reach very good levels of supply ranging from 18 to 20 hours per day and may be around the clock." without interruption in the future.
