On Wednesday, Iraq began exporting the first shipment of gas to the UAE through the ports of Basra.

And the American “News File” network stated in a report seen by “Al-Ghad Press” that “Iraq exported nearly 6,000 tons of gas accompanying the extracted oil to the Emirates, and it arrived at the port of Al-Humaira through the ports of Basra,” adding that “this is a historic step for Iraq.” It was exported through a private company to the foreign market.”

The network quoted the company that undertook the export process as saying, "Many countries have shown interest in obtaining associated Iraqi gas, which will lead to opening new potential commercial channels for Iraq."

Iraq previously exported condensate gas to the UAE, while importing liquefied gas from Iran to operate its power stations.
