Shafaq News/ The official of the Organization for Culture and Defense of Foreign Workers, Muhammad Hajar announced, on Saturday, the number of dead foreign workers in Kurdistan Region during the past year.
"During the past year, (14) deaths were recorded among foreign workers, who are from Senegal, Nepal and India," Hajar told Shafaq News agency.

He added, "(6) of the deceased were buried in Kurdistan, and (8) of them were sent to their countries at the request of their relatives."
He pointed out that "during the past year, the organization was able to liberate a foreign worker who was smuggled to Baghdad and release another who was detained because of debts incurred by one of the owners of the companies, and (15) problems related to foreign workers were resolved in the provinces of the region."
Hajar continued, "During the past year 2022, one case of sexual assault against a foreign worker was recorded in Kurdistan."
On the number of foreign workers in Kurdistan, Hajar confirmed, "The proven numbers indicate that there are more than (38) thousand workers in all regions of the region, but this number was not accurate because many workers entered illegally."
Hajar quoted the workers as asking them to "unify the financial fines for violators of foreign workers with the law in force in Baghdad," noting that "what is happening in Kurdistan is unfair to foreign workers. He also demanded the opening of a special police station for foreigners in every province that would be specialized in workers' issues." aliens".
