[rtl]Basra / NINA /- The Director General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, Farhan Al-Fartousi, announced the timelines for the completion of the Al-Faw port projects, stressing: "Iraq is determined to operate the port ahead of schedule."
He said in a statement, "The delivery of the first phase of the large port of Faw project will take place next year, and it will be an important link linking the Middle East and Europe."
He added, "The five berths of the project in the port will end in September 2024, while the completion of all its projects will be in August 2025."
He explained, "The five berths have an initial capacity of handling (3) million containers."
Al-Fartousi continued: "This year, we will announce the mechanism by which we are proceeding to operate the port. All the port's joints will be completed during the next two years."
It is noteworthy that the works in the large port of Faw are taking place according to a higher pace than the time schedules planned with the executing company, and that the project will be global and transform Iraq's ports into an important center linking the east with the west, and it will also transform the Iraqi economy from a unilateral economy that depends on oil only to a sustainable economy with multiple resources. / End[/rtl]
