A member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ghiath Al-Sorji, confirmed that the boycott continues with the Democratic Party, while meetings are held only at the level of electoral offices to agree on a mechanism for holding elections.
Al-Sorji said in a press interview seen by “Takadum” that “there is a break for more than 5 months between the National Union and the Democratic Party, but meetings are continuing at the level of the election offices of the two parties in order to coordinate about the elections to be held on November 18.”
He added, "An upcoming meeting will be held today or tomorrow in order to agree on a mechanism for conducting elections," pointing out that "the elections will be conducted based on the voter register of the Independent High Electoral Commission."
And he indicated that "Kurdistan's Special Election Commission has an increase in the number of voters by about 450,000 voters, and this confirms that there are those who seek to rig the elections, and therefore the data of the Ministry of Commerce and the Election Commission in Baghdad will be approved to hold the elections on the specified date for them."
