    Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Agriculture clarified the details of the electronic card for farmers, while indicating the trend to include 15 governorates.
    The director of the electronic card project for farmers in the ministry, Iyad al-Bolani, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The electronic card for the farmer and the agricultural investor is one of the prime minister's adoptions within the government curriculum, as well as within the ministry's program for the year (2023-2024), and it was voted on within the draft federal budget law." As one of the reform programs in the agricultural sector," noting that "the electronic card includes all information and everything related to the farmer and the investor, regardless of the nature of the possession or the type of projects and the nature of production."
    Al-Bolani added, "The card path has two directions: the first direction is for each farmer to have an integrated database, and the second path is for him to have a financial card that guarantees and lists all financial obligations that occur between him and the relevant authorities, whether they are in the ministry's departments or in departments outside the ministry." .
    He continued, "Its goals are many, including monitoring all events, activities, and all support issues. Our government supports seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, fodder, loans, pumps, and modern mechanization, as well as loans and preparing the agricultural plan, and all of this is under the heading of follow-up and control through the card, and each farmer will have a special priority in dealing with The nature of the activity, there are farmers who have plant and animal activity, and we have complementary projects, and the other thing is not to manipulate holdings, and each holding will have a special fee and determine its area, and remote monitoring.
    Al-Bolani stated, "The project must be implemented within two years in 15 governorates, as we target in the first year 7 governorates and in the second year 8 governorates, in the process of completing the database that is ready with the number of farmers and investors in the agricultural sector, and the card will reveal it," pointing out, "" For more than 21 years, an agricultural census has not been conducted, and we rely on old data that has not been updated, but the reality of the agricultural sector will be known to us after completing the card project.
