    Economy News-Baghdad
Today, Thursday, the Directorate of Retirement and Social Security identified the segments covered by the Social Security Law for workers, while announcing the minimum salaries for former retirees.
The Director of Retirement and Social Security for Workers, Kholoud Hayran, said in a televised interview, "The Social Security Law for Workers will be a real guarantee for the worker," noting that "the law will be strictly enforced after the instructions are issued."
She added, "The form for the law will include the segment of the unsecured worker category and some segments of retirees," noting, "There are secret mobile inspection teams that monitor employers and the accuracy of their salary scales."
And she confirmed, "The minimum salary for former retired workers will be 500,000 dinars after applying the law."
And the spokesman for the Ministry of Labor, Najm Al-Aqabi, confirmed earlier, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Social Security and Retirement Law for Workers will enter into force 90 days after its issuance in the Official Gazette."
He added, "The law will positively affect the private sector, as the employer can also fall under the umbrella of social security," noting that "the previous law included only workers and not the employer, as well as the voluntary security will also reflect positively on the private sector."
He explained, "The retirement salary is calculated according to a set formula, provided that it is not less than the minimum wage, and it is paid by the Social Security Fund," noting that "it is not possible to combine the social protection grant with the pension, since the grant is intended for people with no income."
He stressed that "all workers in the private, mixed and cooperative sectors are granted a pension if they are within the umbrella of social security."

Mohsen al-Mandalawi, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, said in a press conference, "The law will represent the main element for protecting and guaranteeing workers' rights, and activating the private sector in which more than 5 million workers work. The law will also ensure the expansion of the coverage umbrella by adding the insurance branch for voluntary retirement." And the addition of labor service in the government sector for the purposes of bonus, promotion and retirement, as well as the inclusion of a retirement formula that provides psychological and material stability, in a way that guarantees their equality with government retirees.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen al-Mandalawi, described the law as "one of the most prominent laws, which will constitute an important turning point and a giant step towards strengthening the economic wheel, protecting the segment of workers in the private sector, and guaranteeing their rights as their peers working in the public sector."
He added, "The law also allowed the possibility of purchasing a service for workers who do not have a period of service that qualifies them for retirement, with the possibility of any Iraqi ensuring himself with voluntary retirement, and it also guarantees that the pension for partial disability will be transferred to the successor (heirs) upon the death of the retiree, in addition to granting cost-of-living allowances." annually, linking it to inflation and increasing the pension salaries of insured workers by a decision of the Council of Ministers.
Mandalawi stressed, "Women working in the private sector will have a greater share in the new law, as it grants them wide privileges, including pregnancy and maternity leave, and they enjoy a full salary, in addition to a number of advantages included in the provisions of this important law."
